What is an Employee Assistance Program (EAP)?

An Employee Assistance Program is an employer-sponsored service designed to assist employees in getting help for personal or family problems including mental health, substance use, addiction, marital problems, parenting problems, emotional problems, or financial or legal concerns.

CEO Survey

In order to gauge the existing mental health landscape in workplaces in southwestern Pennsylvania, a brief seven-question survey was designed. Of the regional CEOs and human resources executives polled:

  • 73% are aware of employees who are experiencing mental health concerns or who have family members experiencing mental health concerns.
  • 58% of companies have an Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
  • 90% of executives are concerned about the loss of productivity in the workplace due to depression and other mental health conditions.
